FAQ
What clothes do I need to wear during the session?
It is best if you wear clothes in which you feel warm and comfortable, as you will be laying on a massage table during a part of the session. Wearing layers can be useful as the intensity of the session can vary, and there might be moments in which you will feel more or less warm. Please note that you will wear clothes throughout the entire session, also during the moments of touch.
Do I need to prepare anything for the session?
It is useful that you take a moment of reflection prior to the session. During the session, we work with a theme that is present in your life. When reflecting on yourself, is there something that comes to mind? If nothing comes to mind, don’t worry – we can elaborate the theme together during the session.
How will I feel after the session?
We complete the session with a moment of rest, so that you can integrate the work we have done. Together, we will briefly reflect on the session and round it off. Usually, clients feel very calm and connected after a session. It is great to cherish that feeling for a moment. Therefore, my recommendation is to schedule some time for yourself also after the session, if possible.
Do you also give sessions in other languages?
With regards to language, it is most important that you feel comfortable and yourself. Apart from our conversation in words, a big part of the session is also to listen to the language of the body and the touch. So I am sure we will find a way to talk to each other in the languages we know and let the non-verbal communication do its work as well.
What happens after the first session?
After the first session, we together will reflect on how it feels working together. If you feel that the bodywork is beneficial to you, we can discuss how to continue. We can determine a theme for the future sessions as well as the frequency for those sessions (weekly, monthly, etc.). We can do that right at the closure of the first session or by email/phone after a few days of reflection.
Does the health insurance cover the costs of the bodywork session?
Unfortunately it does not. Even though I believe that somatic work can greatly contribute to our overall well-being, the bodywork session does currently not fall into the category of alternative healing approaches that are covered by the Dutch health insurance.
Can a bodywork session replace conventional therapy?
A bodywork session can do great work on your physical and/or mental well-being. If, however you currently are in need of any medical or psychological therapy, the bodywork session can serve as complementary treatment rather than a replacement of therapy. Depending on the type of therapy you follow, it might be important to check in with your therapist if bodywork is a useful addition.
I cannot come to the session we booked. Can I cancel it?
There can be many reasons for you to not make it to a session we had scheduled. It is definitely possible to postpone to another moment. If you know that you cannot make it, please let me know as soon as possible, and latest 48 hours before the session to avoid being charged for the session. You can best notify me by sending a brief message to my phone.
